In a remarkable display of youth engagement and leadership, the Interact@DIA club at Dubai International Academy - Emirates Hills, under the guidance of the Youth and Interact District Country Committee in the UAE, organized an inspiring assembly that brought together key figures from the Rotary family. The event, attended by over 500 students, successfully showcased the interconnected world of Interact, Rotaract, and Rotary while highlighting the importance of service above self.
The assembly featured an impressive lineup of speakers representing various levels of the Rotary organization. Deputy District Governor Tony Ebraheem, alongside Rotary Club of Jumeirah - Dubai President Rabie Rafia, shared valuable insights about Rotary's mission and impact. The event was further enriched by presentations from youth service leaders, RTN Dr. Eng. Basel Radwan and Rose Moraes from the Youth and Interact District Country Committee in the UAE, and Albert Alterjman, VP of Rotary Club of Jumeirah - Dubai and Learning Facilitator Chair in the UAE.
The presence of Rotaract leadership, represented by Nadwa Alkhatib, VP of Rotaract Club of Jumeirah and Bassel Wehbe, Rotary Club of Jumeirah - Dubai board member and dual member of Rotary and Rotaract, provided students with relatable role models and highlighted the pathway from Interact to continued service through Rotaract and Rotary. We were particularly honored by the attendance of RTN Yaseen Jaffer, President of the Association of Rotary Clubs UAE, who recognized our team's dedication to promoting Rotary's values.
Interact@DIA, established in 2013, sponsored by Rotary Club of Jumeirah - Dubai, continues to demonstrate exceptional student leadership. The assembly was skillfully conducted by club President Aanya Vora, supported by Vice Presidents Nysa Jham and Adit Mital. Their leadership brought together students from years 9-12, fostering discussions about meaningful service initiatives that impact both local and international communities.
The success of this assembly has sparked plans to replicate it in other schools across Dubai, helping to raise awareness of Rotary’s global mission and inspire more students to join in service initiatives. Additionally, with plans underway to establish an Interact club at DIA’s Al Barsha branch, this expansion reflects our commitment to engaging more youth in Rotary’s mission of service and leadership development.
As the Youth and Interact Country Chair in the UAE, I am proud to witness the enthusiasm and dedication of our young leaders. Their engagement with Rotary's principles promises a bright future for service and leadership in our community.
